Symphonic Band

Symphonic Band is the intermediate level performance ensemble and serves as the introduction for most 9th graders into the West Forsyth Band program. Students at this level will focus on building strong fundamental playing skills and enjoy exploring a variety of concert band literature. Students are expected to spend adequate time practicing outside of class to prepare for rehearsals and assessments. This band will give 4 home concerts each year and perform at the GMEA District 9 Large Group Performance Evaluation in March each year. Students will attend our annual symphonic band camp in early February. Select students who demonstrate more advanced skills will be encouraged to audition for the GMEA District Honor Band and All-State. Private instruction is recommended. Students are selected for the Symphonic Band based on audition and director recommendation.
